One Footed Hockey Edge Work Drill

One Footed Hockey Edge Work Drill: “The Snake”

This is a great edge work drill that helps you become comfortable on both your inside and outside edges. Take a stride to get some momentum and then perform a c cut on your inside than outside edge across the ice on either foot. While performing this drill be sure to keep a good knee bend and proper skating posture. This drill will help you increase your balance and increase your ability to make tight turns at high speeds. An important thing to remember while doing this drill is that your want to have light feet and not dig your edges into the ice while performing the c cuts, instead you want to keep your glide by staying on the center of your skate blade. Digging into the ice and making a lot of noise will slow you down rather than increase your speed and skating ability.
