Off Ice Hockey Stick Handling Drills

This Video From USA Hockey Highlights some great off ice hockey stick handling drills. Some of the tops players from the U-18 88′ birth year team including Jamie Mcbain (Carolina Hurricanes), Patrick Kane(Chicago Blackhawks) and Billy Sweat(Vancouver Canucks) demonstrate these off ice drills. These drills are great for increasing your skill level and softening your hands. Its important to remember when doing these drills to stay away from making a lot of noise while stick handling. Cradle the tennis ball, street hockey ball or golf ball with soft hands and never chop. Your hands will always benefit from over speed training but making sure to have a loose upper body and soft hands are critical to becoming an elite stick handler. Practice these drills in your drive way and over time you will increase your on ice dangles!
